A potato festival that respects its own land. Recycling, waste reduction and healthy soil for the generations to come.
Sorting stations across the whole festival.
Across all seven thematic zones, separate collection points — paper, plastic, glass, biodegradable — run together with a local recycling operator. Trained volunteers guide visitors at every station.
The goal for the 2026 edition: most of the waste generated gets recycled or composted, not landfilled.
Farming that doesn't exhaust the land.
The same volcanic soils and underground mineral waters that make the Covasna potato special, featured at Pillar II · Agriculture, are finite resources. The festival's partner farmers practice crop rotation and responsible irrigation, protecting the soil for the generations to come.
SCDC Târgu Secuiesc presents, as part of the festival, research findings on sustainable agriculture in the area.
Workshops for children and adults.
Composting workshops, sessions on reducing food waste, and a deposit-based reusable cup system available at every drinks stand in the festival. Children discover, through play, why healthy soil means better potatoes.
Partnership with Wegener Park for a permanent green corner, set up by volunteers for the duration of the festival.
The festival's street food stalls use biodegradable or compostable packaging.
A hands-on demonstration of how potato and vegetable scraps become compost for the local soil.
Returnable deposit at every drinks stand — one cup, all three days.
A symbolic planting and a volunteer-built space dedicated to soil and biodiversity education.
Farmers and researchers from SCDC Târgu Secuiesc discuss protecting the volcanic soil long-term.
A community clean-up action along the stream near Gábor Áron Square, open to volunteers.
